About our building
When visitors pass our building they are often surprised to notice the cow statues and murals on the building. Gallery owner, Graham George had the murals and statues place to pay homage to the original use of this building—The Galveston Model Dairy.
The Galveston Model Dairy incorporated in Galveston in 1912 on Tremont Street. By 1928, they would expand and build this structure, located at 2327 Winnie Street to meet the demand of the community for local dairy products. During its tenure in the building, this building housed a modern factory capable of churning out multiple milk products such as butter, cream cheese, ice cream and of course various types of milk. This dairy would supply its milk products to numerous homes, grocery stores and even the Galveston County School District on a yearly basis, till their closure.
Although many business have called this location home, it took the vision of its owner, Graham George to bring the dairy back to life, paying homage to its past while breathing into it a new life.
The Studio Experience is conveniently located in the heart of the art district just a few blocks from the historic district- The Strand– as well as fine dining at the historic boutique hotel — The George Manor.

THE HISTORIC MODEL DAIRY BUILDING REBORN
The building at the corner of Winnie and 24th Street has been getting a lot of attention lately mainly due to the appearance of – of all things – cows. But the installation of these bovine statues and paintings isn’t as random as one might think. The new herd is moo-ving into downtown Galveston, surrounding the former Model Dairy building.
Built in 1915, the structure was home to Model Dairy which used milk from 31 dairies in Galveston and surrounding counties. They supplied pasteurized milk to the entire Galveston school district as well as local hotels and private customers, at one time putting out 5,000 gallons each day. They also produced cream, buttermilk, and cottage cheese.
